Welcome to the world of Hop & Cleaver, a brand new bar and eatery on Newcastle’s Quayside. We smoke our meats, brew our own small batch craft beers and love inventing all manner of cocktails. Here are a few things to expect;

Lovely date night, the food was excellent with great value for money. Really attentive staff too and extra quick service but never felt rushed.

Very pleased with my visit. Only thing that let my visit down was the dessert .. I ordered the Mississippi mud pie.. it was nice but the ice cream included - vanilla had freezer burn and there was bits of ice in it. I didnt complaint to the server as my experience was good. I would defo address this as starter and main was great but I did not think Hop n Cleaver dessert menu was lacking. Take care and thank the staff for me

The food was nice, but portion was smaller than we had anticipated for the 'crate' described for restaurant week. My dessert (the waffle) came with raspberry sauce instead of bourbon butterscotch with no explanation. The staff (other than the guy who initially seated us) seemed just like they couldn't be bothered and had to be prompted for everything from giving us cutlery to clearing the table to offering us dessert menus. If they were rushed off their feet it would be understandable but they mainly stood next to the bar chatting, Unsure if we will return after this experience.
