About Fota Island
Fota Island Resort is one of the most luxurious 5 stars hotels in Ireland and provides a tempting selection of gourmet restaurants with excellent food to choose from, including fine dining at the delightful Fota Restaurant, or more casual dining in the surroundings of the Amber Lounge or The Spike Bar at the Clubhouse.
Easy booking process as I booked via email. I had the booking confirmed very quickly and all of the correspondence with the hotel was in timely manner. Food and atmosphere was great - when we arrived we thought to ask for the window seat, but decided not to. And after the food came out we did not even look at the window once. Everything was delicious and we cannot wait to return. One small thing to pay attention - my last name was misspelled on two out of four emails from the hotel although it is a part of my email.
Fantastic food and very attentive service. Would highly recommend.
I arranged a family break at Fota. We all had a wonderful time. The rooms were lovely, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the grounds and gardens beautiful and the food was excellent! I wish we had been able to stay longer, next time I will book a longer stay to make the most of the pool and spa facilities.
Hotel is in need of repair and refurbishment. The hallway and room the floorboards were very worn and creaking. Not what I would expect from a 5 star. Left feeling disappointed and not somewhere I'd recommend.
Pros Very nice newly refurbished rooms. Lovely Spa. Cons Dining in the hotel is expensive. Noise from a wedding party kept us up until 2am on our first night.
Delicious food served by v nice stall
Fantastic Food, facilties and service. Highly recommended an overnight for sheer luxury with a relaxed atmosphere. Staff were exceptional except for the Spa staff who seemed a little jaded and not necessairly happy to see us. However reception and service staff were very friendly and imppecable.
I won a 2 night break away with Fota. I was really looking forward to it. My initial reaction to seeing the hotel and grounds was awe. We were both really impressed with the hotel itself. Unfortunately that imoression did not last long. Our room wasn't ready even though it was after 3 pm, no explanation was given. We were told to wait in the bar and that when it was ready they'd come and get us. We were told it would be about 30 min. 45 min later noone arrived. I had to go back out to reception. The bar service was also very slow and the atmosphere in the bar for dinner that night was also a let down. No smart casual dress code and a lot of tracksuits and runners. Definitely not what I expected from a 5 star resort. The only saving grace was the spa. The ladies were so nice and after I informed them I hot engaged we had chocolates and sparkling wine handed to us after our excellent treatments. Disappointingly the hotel restaurant staff did not recognise my exciting news (even though they knew about it) and did take away from my night. A simple glass of sparkling wine would of showed some level of professionalism and care for customers especially since we were dining in the restaurant and not the bar. Unfortunately I will not be recommending this hotel to any of my friends, family or colleagues.
