About Ben's Canteen, Clapham Junction
Ben's Canteen is a neighbourhood hangout specialising in Burgers and Wine. Come the weekend, we're proud to serve one of the best brunches in London.
An all round brilliant place to grab a bite to eat or a drink (bloody Mary's especially!).
Ease of booking online and Front of house service were excellent but sadly this did not transpire to the table service which was somewhat lax. One member of staff tending to our table seemed to be unaware of the menu options on offer, one side came out after we'd all finished our food. Most dissapointing was that no one came to ask how the food was again until it was too late and seemed unconcerned that one plate was barely eaten. Again mixed reviews here as I'm pleased that my friends enjoyed what was ordered in particular the hollandaise sauce was delicious. Sadly, my food was not what was expected at all. I ordered the courgette and sweet corn fritters with balsamic tomato and haullimi but all I could taste was sweetness and sugar and fatty batter. Really underwhelmed and the service only added to this food dissatisfaction.
Food is delicious and the atmosphere absolutely amazing. Staff is approachable and friendly. Went for bottomless brunch with my girlfriends, will definitely come back!
I love Bens Kitchen - best place for brunch in sw London
Great place, really yummy food but the service was very hit and miss. One waitress was great, the other was absolutely dreadful, and the food took a while to come out. Otherwise really good and despite the terrible service I would go back for the pancakes!
Our table was quite dark and cramped but food was good, with a decent portion size.
I spent my birthday at Ben's Canteen with 6 other friends and we took advantage of the prosecco nights deal. We were so well looked after and the staff are absolutely lovely. Everyone loved the burgers too. Thank you so much!
I booked a table for 3 people a week in advance, however when we arrived we were given a tall table with stools that could barely fit the 3 of us around it. I ordered a hot chocolate which was extremely small considering the price. The food was also very over-priced, I went for the Big Ben assuming it would be more than one of everything and it wasn't. Overall, i felt the service was very blunt. I completely understand that it was busy, but the we had to wait ages to get any sort of attention and the waitress was very blunt in telling me there was no way i could possibly swap the black pudding for something else. Overall, i was just very disappointed with the overall experience and probably wouldn't go again. One brunch meal and a hot chocolate should never come to £18.
